FIELD SERVICE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR SMALL BUSINESS
Run customers, scheduling, quotes, invoices and payments for a small home-service team in one place. Every plan includes unlimited users, and Free doesn't ask for a card.

What is field service management software?
Field service management (FSM) software is what a business uses to run work at customer locations. It holds customer records, the schedule, quotes, invoices and payments. Plumbers, HVAC techs, electricians, cleaners, landscapers and pest control crews all work this way. The job happens at the customer's house, not at your shop, so the office and the crew need the same information in two places at once.
ToolbagCRM is FSM software made for small home-service businesses. Both plans include unlimited users, and the Free plan needs no card.
What does FSM software do?
Most FSM tools follow a job the same way: someone calls, you quote, you send a crew, you invoice, you get paid. Here's where ToolbagCRM fits at each step today.
Customer records
Each customer has one record with contact details, jobs and invoices. The office and the crew look at the same information.
Scheduling and dispatch
Scheduling and team assignments are part of core. The Dispatch plug-in adds a dispatch board. Route Planner, also a plug-in, lets you put stops in order by hand.
Quotes
Build quotes from your own catalog items and quantities. Quotes come with core on Free and Founders.
Invoices and payments
Send an invoice link and let the customer pay by card through Stripe once your payment account is set up. Processing is 3% + $0.30. Free adds a 2% platform fee.
Crews in the field
Techs open customer and job details in their phone's browser. ToolbagCRM is a web app. There is no native app, and it doesn't work offline.
Plug-ins when you need them
Documents, Customer Equipment, Job Checklists and Job Costing are available as standard plug-ins. Each one uses a plug-in slot.
- Not available today: online booking, a customer portal, GPS tracking, QuickBooks or Google Calendar sync, and data import. If you need one of those right now, we'd rather you know before you sign up.
Field service scheduling software
Scheduling means putting a job on a day and a time, assigning it to a person or a crew, and moving it when the customer calls to reschedule. In ToolbagCRM, scheduling and team assignments are part of the core product on both plans.
When the calendar gets crowded, the Dispatch plug-in adds a dispatch board, and Route Planner lets you put a day's stops in order by hand. Route Planner doesn't optimize routes for you, and there is no GPS tracking of trucks today.
Field service management app
A lot of owners search for an FSM "app" because the crew works from a phone. ToolbagCRM is a web app. Techs open it in the browser on a phone or tablet and see customer and job details there, with nothing to install from an app store.
The catch is that it needs a signal. There is no native app and no offline mode. If your crews spend the day in basements or out where coverage drops, test that before you commit.
What should small-business FSM software include?
This table lists what most small home-service teams look for in FSM software and where ToolbagCRM stands on each item today. Core means it's included on Free and Founders. Plug-in means it's an optional standard plug-in that uses a plug-in slot. Not available means you can't get it today.

What's the difference between FSM software and a CRM?
A CRM keeps track of customers and the sales conversation. FSM software also handles the work: who goes to which job, when, and whether the invoice got paid.
For a small contractor the two overlap almost completely, because every customer comes with a job. ToolbagCRM covers both. If you mostly care about the customer side, our field service CRM page goes deeper.
FSM software features explained
FSM vendors all use the same handful of words, and they don't always mean the same thing by them. Here is how we use each one, and whether ToolbagCRM has it today.
- Dispatch
- Deciding which tech goes to which job and letting them know. ToolbagCRM's Dispatch plug-in adds a dispatch board on top of core scheduling.
- Job scheduling
- Putting each job on the calendar with a date, a time and an assigned person or crew. It's core in ToolbagCRM.
- Work order
- The instructions for one job: who the customer is, where to go and what to do. In ToolbagCRM that lives on the job record.
- Quote (estimate)
- The price you offer before the work starts. ToolbagCRM builds quotes from your own catalog items, and when a customer accepts one it drafts the invoice from it.
- Field service invoicing
- Billing for the job once it's done, often from the truck. ToolbagCRM sends an invoice link, and customers can pay by card through Stripe once your payment account is set up.
- Route planning
- Putting a day's stops in a sensible order to cut drive time. ToolbagCRM's Route Planner plug-in orders stops by hand; it doesn't optimize them automatically.
- Technician app
- What the crew uses in the field to see jobs and customer details. ToolbagCRM is a web app that runs in the phone's browser. There's no native app.
- Service agreement
- A recurring maintenance contract, like a yearly tune-up plan. ToolbagCRM doesn't offer recurring service agreements to new accounts.
- Job costing
- Comparing what a job cost you with what you charged. ToolbagCRM's Job Costing plug-in records costs and sums up revenue and profit for each job.
- Customer portal
- A login where customers see their history, quotes and invoices. ToolbagCRM doesn't have one; customers get invoice and payment links instead.
Who is ToolbagCRM's FSM software for?
Small home-service businesses, whether that's an owner working alone or a few crews with someone in the office. Plans don't charge per user, so adding a tech or a dispatcher doesn't change your bill. The core workflow works for most trades. Each trade page lists what fits and what's missing:
How much does field service management software cost?
A lot of FSM tools charge per user, so the price climbs every time you hire. ToolbagCRM doesn't. Free is $0 a month and needs no card; each standard plug-in slot on Free costs $14.99/month.
Founders needs a card. Your first month is free, then it's $150/month base with unlimited standard plug-in slots. Premium add-ons and card processing cost extra on both plans.
When you compare field service management software pricing, add up the whole bill for your team instead of the headline number. Count everyone who'll log in, any add-ons you'd turn on, and a normal month of card processing.
How do you choose FSM software for a small business?
Before you pick one, check these things:
- Add up the monthly cost for your whole team. Include per-user fees, add-ons and card processing.
- Walk one real job through it, from the first call to the payment.
- Use a free plan or demo with your own jobs before you pay for anything.
- Open it on a phone. If your crews work without signal, ask about offline use.
- Ask which features work today and which are on a roadmap.
- If your crew or customers speak Spanish, check the language settings.
Straight answers. Before you start.
What is field service management software?
Field service management (FSM) software helps a business manage work done at customer locations: customers, scheduling, dispatch, quotes, invoices and payments. ToolbagCRM is FSM software for small home-service businesses.
What does FSM stand for?
FSM stands for field service management. It covers how a business plans, sends out and gets paid for work at a customer's location.
What is the best field service management software for a small business?
It depends on your trade, your team size and what you need on day one. Compare the total monthly cost for your whole team, whether it charges per user, how it works on a phone, and which features exist today. ToolbagCRM fits small home-service teams that want customers, scheduling, quotes, invoices and payments without per-user fees. It isn't a fit if you need online booking, GPS tracking, QuickBooks sync or offline use right now.
What's the difference between FSM and CRM?
A CRM focuses on customer records and sales. FSM software also covers the jobs: scheduling, crews, invoices and payments. ToolbagCRM includes the customer records and the job workflow.
Is FSM software the same as a work order system?
Not quite. A work order system tracks the jobs themselves. FSM software usually adds customer records, scheduling, quotes, invoicing and payments around those jobs. In ToolbagCRM, the job record plays the part of the work order.
Do I need FSM software if I only have one or two techs?
Not always. If you aren't missing callbacks, double-booking or losing track of who owes you money, a notebook and a calendar can work. Once those problems show up, FSM software helps. ToolbagCRM Free has no monthly fee and needs no card, so a small shop can try it without a new bill.
How much does field service management software cost?
Prices vary a lot, and many tools charge per user. ToolbagCRM Free has no monthly fee and needs no card; each standard plug-in slot costs $14.99/month. Founders is free for the first month, then $150/month base with unlimited users and unlimited standard plug-in slots. Card processing and premium add-ons are separate.
